Lee Wilson, MAA Director and Principal Consultant is well known within the building industry and contributes to many discussions and forums on accessibility issues. He is a regular contributor to Sourceable.net and writes about accessibility, universal design, and emergency management issues. He also consults on regulatory issues at State and Commonwealth level.
Lee has a unique skill-set as a Disability Access Consultant. This includes:
- Being an Accredited Member of the Association of Consultants in Access Australia;
- Qualifications in building surveying;
- Completion of the Graduate Certificate fire engineering qualification from Victoria University in performance-based building and fire codes, including the unit of study Performance Codes Methodology and Structure (VQB5642) allowing him to develop and assess ‘Performance Solutions’ as a form of compliance with the Building Code of Australia;
- Completion of a Masters degree in project management, giving him expert skills in managing audit programs;
- Being a qualified Chartered Building Engineer with the CABE.
- Holding security risk management qualifications; and
- Releasing an industry guidebook on evacuation needs for people with disability.
